this is going to be quick, just thought i’d say that tomorrow, at 3pm i shall be taking my first (and hopefully, only) driving test to get my license. i think i am going to be fine, but some luck would be nice. i’ll have a longer post tomorrow, most likely about the test. haha

one year ago, i started my first day of college. how weird is that? now, my brother will be starting his first day in a couple weeks and then i will be going back as a sophomore, knowing most of the ropes. it is weird to think about, the “going back” process. this time, it will be minus my brother (duh) and it just won’t be as exciting as last year, i think. don’t get me wrong, it will be exciting seeing all of my friends, being back “home” (if you will) and just getting ready for the new semester. this reminds me, i should start packing when i get back home from house/dog sitting.

the house that i am sitting is the middle school band teacher’s house, and i am also taking care of her two dogs (still considered puppies even though they are huge), Guava and Queso (aka The Pastelitos). Also keep in mind that their cage is called Guantanamo. Yes, she has a great sense of humor. overall, they are great dogs and have been following me around the house and being well behaved for the most part. you can tell that they miss their mommy though, every time we go by her car on our walks, they want to stop and wait for her. i feel bad though, because i might not being playing enough with them. but keep in mind that they woke me up at 6am to go on their morning walk yesterday. and this morining, Queso woke me up at 4am for a bathroom and water break. needless to say, i am rather tired, especially since i entertained some friends last night as well.

my “boss” said that i could have friends over while i was there, so i invited quite a few friends, and 4 (and 1 friend of a friend showed up). it ended up being rather nice, just being able to catch up with people i hadn’t seen in what feels like forever. oh, and the culprits were S, J, AM, DD and DD’s future suite mate, from China. i ordered in some pizza and such (i have a lot left over, sadly), and we just talked about random stuff that was going on and gossip. i don’t know about them, but i had a great time. and, they are thinking about coming back for a movie night tomorrow. yay! i won’t be alone all day like today! i don’t feel like a complete loser!

other stuff going on…well this is my 100th post! it took a while to come out, but obviously, here it is! who would have thought that i would be here writing this? i mean, i neve thought i would be this dedicated to the blog to stick it out for this long! woohoo!

ok, i should go eat some breakfast before my stomach goes crazy. until next time, stay classy, san diego.

99th post, 16 days till Blogversary

i can’t believe it, i am almost at 100 posts, and all in less than a year (barely)! i haven’t decided what my 100th post shall be about yet, but it will definitely be a celebration of some sort.

for some reason i have been feeling kind neglected or forgotten by most of my high school friends. i don’t think it is necessarily their fault, because lets face it, i haven’t talked to a lot of them in 6 months or more just from not facebooking/iming/texting/emailing each other enough and have been living our own lives, doing our own things at our respected colleges for the past year.

but, you would think that when i invite them to hang out at the house i will be house sitting next week, they would have the decency to respond? i’ve gotten a handful of maybes and the rest (minus my decent friends, all 3 of them) have not responded at all. what am i supposed to make of this? yes, i plan ahead. sue me. i want to be able to feed everyone that shows up. and im sorry i don’t drink and it won’t be a huge drunken affair. just because we are in college, we don’t have to get drunk at every social event. or am i totally wrong? please, feel free to correct me.

anyway, whoever ends up showing, we are going to have a GREAT TIME. i feel like once i see everyone’s true colors, i might be putting a line through a few peoples names.

it also doesn’t help that i havn’t seen B and V together in 2 weeks due to scheduling conflicts. and i won’t be able to see them until next week because B’s job has the worst hours of life. and V/her mom has been sick so we cant do take out and hang out at her house. ARGHHH.

lets just say i’m feeling socially deprived. i blame my current job. sitting in a room by myself for 5 hours a day filing bills just doesn’t do it for me. for this, i blame my father, who made me take the job in the first place. THERE IS A REASON WHY I’M MAJORING IN HUMAN DEVELOPMENT, PEOPLE!!! no pun intended. but i like it. haha.

ok, hope you enjoyed my rant. tomorrow will be better. going to the dentist (ugh) then GREEN DAY CONCERT!!!!

rather annoyed

today i started my first day of work at my dad’s office filing bills. you so wish you were me. i had this exact same job two summers ago, except this time i am only doing it for a few weeks and only five hours, compared to about 7 last time. the main reason why i am working there is because my dad doesn’t want me lying around the house until i go back to school. although, that is exactly what my brother is doing, playing World of Warcraft 24/7. what he doesn’t know is that my dad found a way to block WOW on his new laptop for college. MWAHAHAHA!!! needless to say, paper cuts will be my friends for the next few weeks. oh joy.

in other news, B got a job at a local restaurant as their salad and cold appetizer chef! how cool is that??? and it looks like she started today already, with great success. i am so happy for her!

oh, and one last thing, i shall be having my first house/dog sitting job for my old middle school’s band teacherin 2 weeks. she even said i could have a “responsible” party with friends. she must really like/trust me. lets just hope my mother doesn’t mind…every time i’ve had friends over, shes been there.

birthdays and errands

this past weekend really was not that exciting. my mom was gone for most of it, on her annual shopping spree with a friend. so the “men” of the house, aka the most antisocial, sat in their respected rooms and played video games or searched Ebay. yesterday though, we celebrated V’s birthday by going to the Cheesecake Factory and having homemade cake at B’s house. as a present i had gotten her (like, 3 weeks in advance) a framed picture of B, V and i and a key chain of her sorority letters and logo. B’s gift to her was of course, the cake. B said that there would be a surprise inside of the cake, and i thought it was going to be like, a thing that popped out of the cake or maybe there would be a ball of chocolate or something along those lines. Man, was I way off course. B made the cake look like a checkerboard inside, inspired by last weeks episode of Cake Boss. of course, i knew that exact fact the moment i saw the inside of the cake (i guess i’m just a nerd like that), but it was still really cool to see it in person. just goes to show how awesome and fantastic B really is. Keep going to culinary school, girl. one day, you’ll be working for the Food Network. haha

today i had a dr. appointment at 9am, and i didn’t see him till 10:15. i was given a room at 9, and had one of his residents run the annul tests that made sure i was still functioning and such, but i didn’t see my actual doctor until an hour later. needless to say, i was rather peeved. its ok though. afterwards, i tried to make a final appointment for a driving lesson, but even the people working there had no idea where she was. go figure. after that, we went to Staples because i needed to get a new student planner. i am one of those people that just can’t live without one. i mean lets face it, my phone is not meant to be my planner (the calendar sucks) and i can’t put everything on my Google calendar on the spot. plus, i remember things better if i write them down (hence why i still take notes with on pen and paper). we also ended up getting me new binder, 4 notebooks, deviders, and expo markers (for my lovely white board). now i just need to GO BACK TO SCHOOL. so ready, u have no idea. oh, and pack all of my stuff. slight detail.

Have I told you about the time I won THE award ?

it was my 5th grade award ceremony, and they requested that every student and their families attend because it was also a social event. the students had to sit with their classes though, which i thought was weird.

anyway, since it was a school award ceremony, i thought it was only going to be about academics. turns out, that wasn’t the case. There was an award for the boy and girl who were the most kindest, generous and all around most friendly person of the class. OK, look i went to a public elementary school and there were about 300 kids in my class. I was also not one of the “popular” kids, so i assumed the award was going to one of them…but then they called my name, and a boy who i sat across from in science. i wasn’t even sure that they had called my name, i sat there stunned for a few seconds.

after walking up to the stage (awkwardly smiling the entire time) and getting my “good two shoes” award, i sat back down and they continued with the ceremony.

Afterwords, i found my mom talking to the Vice Principal, where it turns out my vote for the award was unanimous. WHAT??? i wasn’t even popular! i still to this day never understood how it was possible that i had won the award. winning an award for being yourself? and when you’re only 11?

many years later, my dad still calls me his “Jackie King Award” girl.

dreams really do come true. want to know why? tomorrow is the last day of camp/work! granted, it will be day filled with cleaning, organizing, and storing but i am so ready for my few weeks to really have a good time. don’t get me wrong, the kids have been cute, but i was so underpaid for what i was doing, you have no idea. i might even get my voice back just in time for school to start, where i would really like to start taking voice lessons. granted, choir has helped my voice become stronger, but i feel like i’ve lost a lot as well.

speaking of school, all of the textbooks are on their way to my school mailbox. very exciting, i know. of course, 5 min. after i ordered mine, my mother called me over to help the brother order his textbooks online. luckily (for me), the website does not have Fall ’09 classes listed yet. but i think this was just a small reminder that i will be getting phone calls and such about college from him. granted, he’s going to a college that is the complete opposite of mine, but i guess most college stuff is pretty much the same. haha.

this coming saturday is V’s bday, so B and i are in the middle of planning something pretty awesome for her. she is the oldest out of the 3 of us, but the “newest” of the trio. i got her a pretty awesome present, i think she’s gonna love it. B of course shall be baking her an awesome cake. we have never been into huge parties, and it doesn’t really help that we all have seperate groups of friends outside of the trio. i mean, we know a lot of the same people, but we live in a big city, if you know what i mean. maybe next year…after all next year is the big birthday.

alright, i think i will watch one more movie, shower then go o bed a little early tonight. i’m definitly gonna need it. more updates to come!

a new look

i have decided that since i will be starting my sophomore year of college, it might be time to get rid of the teddy bear header, and go for something a little more…not necessarily “mature” but hmm i don’t know, simple and sophisticated i guess? i was also pretty bored and was tired of looking at the same kind of photo for the past year. a new school year, a new look to the blog. makes sense right?

other things that i should do for the new school year:
buy text books online (saving major $$$)
buy new clothes (where all that extra $$$ will be going)
go through my room and pack all the extra stuff i want to bring back

i will also be having quite a few doctor appointments to make sure that i am healthy enough to attend school. good times, i know.

i still have a few weeks (a whole month to be exact) before i start classes again, but i feel like its a whole year before i can step onto campus again. i miss college so much. it is not that i don’t love my family, but i feel like by coming home and working at my old high school, i have gone backwards, not forward. like i havn’t changed at all, which just isn’t true. i have become so much happier since i started school and i actually like going to class. geez, i just want to go already. thats probably why i am planning and thinking about packing a month in advance. haha

its finally almost over

this past week was the first week of the last session of camp/work, whicj means that i only have one more week to go! and man, was it a crazy week. my supervisor/boss lady has a background of cake decorating, so every year that she has been working at the camp, the kids have done some kind of cake decorating. this year was pretty interesting because the boys made a decapitated pirate’s head cake (well actually 2 cakes) and the girls made 2 butterfly fondant cakes. both kinds of cakes ended up being a great success, and since we had a lot of leftover fondant and molding chocolate, the younger kids got a chance to make stuff as well. overall, it was a very stressful and successful week. the last day (since the cake and candy making was done) we just had all of the groups that were scheduled for that day do a really easy project, although it was a hassel to clean up at the end of the day.

on thursday i finally went and saw Public Enemies (not that great of a movie, sadly) with V, with dinner before. I hadn’t seen her since she had gotten home from NC, and since B is super grounded (her parents finally came up with a punishment) until further notice, so it was just the two of us, which was nice. We caught up on all the stuff that has been on our mind that just doesn’t help when it is said over IM or any other online thing. plus, it was nice just to hang out with someone else outside of my house and the neighborhood where i work. i was also sucessful in buying 2 new pairs of sunglasses, which i desporatly needed because i lost mine a while ago, and at a great deal. one pair was $14, 2 was $20. i love those kinds of deals. heehee.

well as i said before, i only have one more week of work, and then my goal is to make an appointment at the DMV and GET MY FRIGGEN LICENSE ALREADY. after all, i will have a whole month before school starts. plenty of time, and i think i am pretty much ready, it is just a matter of getting my parents to feel the same way.

one day i want to be able to make a big family dinner for the holidays. i want everyone to love what i make and see me as someone who can really cook. right now, my specialty is cereal, so i have a long way to go. one day though, it will definitely happen.
